Construction of Finland’s Vantaa Tramway has begun, connecting Mellunmäki in Helsinki to Helsinki Airport via Tikkurila by 2029. The 19 km line aims to ease congestion and boost sustainable transport in the region. Early work includes tunnel preparation at Tikkurila station. Though noise and platform closures may disrupt services temporarily, the tramway promises smoother airport access, reduced carbon emissions, and stronger transit infrastructure across Greater Helsinki.
