Mount Meru also called Sumeru (Divine Meru) or Mahaameru (Great Meru), is the \u201cPancha Shikhara Parvatam\u201d (Five Peaked Mountain) revered by Sanatanis as the abode of Gods &amp; centre of the \u201cBhuugolam\u201d where \u201cPrapancha Kriya\u201d happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this picture kandariya Mahadev Temple, Khajuraho \u2013 we can see upgrading 5 Shikharas representing the Mount Meru. What does that mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are at entrance of the temple (Number 1, Lower Peak) Urge for god is less. As we go ahead inside the temple towards main deity, the height of peaks is increasing. The 7 horses represent the 7 Vedic meters \u2013 Gayatri, Brihati, Usnik, Jagati, Tristup, Anustup &amp; Pankti. The study of vedic meters is called \u201cChandas\u201d. Flanked on both sides of Surya by his Devi(s) \u2013 Usha &amp; Prathyusha (Day &amp; Night). The Usha &amp; Prathyusha are seen striking off the darkness with their bow and arrows. At the dawn we can see sky clearing off, different sections of the society becoming active for their daily works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two Makaras on both the sides of Surya represent the \u201cVahana of Varuna &amp; Varuni\u201d or \u201cVahana of KaamaDeva\u201d. Varuna is result of Rashmi (Sunlight) of Surya.
